Demo Day #1
Elevated Justice » Devlog
"Elevated Justice" has gone through its first Demo Day!
While the game is still in a very rough early state, there were a couple of important points of feedback that I received and saw:
- Weapons generally seem to feel good, but there is quite a way to go. In particular, weapon balance and recoil feedback still need a little bit of work. I'll be working to make them really complement the rest of the mechanics.
- Movement is fun, but the control scheme and some actions are still very clunky. Streamlining of the Player's intended controls is a concern that I feel personally too.
- Admittedly, the AI was still in an incomplete state. Enemies could go from practically blind to unleashing hell on the Player in an instant. One of the next big goals is to finish the AI implementation and provide a solid challenge to you.
- The test level is not yet sufficient in terms of level design. Even though features are always in flux, providing a better experience would go a long way in bringing the vision to life.
- The description of visual style and graphics is an intended direction for the game, but the reality does not match the intention. While it's lower on the priority list, I hope I'll be able to make it more in line with my vision in the future. If not, resolution settings and other quality of life features should be implemented to reduce the frustration.
- While there is a basic playground, proper objectives and context are still missing. For the next demo, I'll be sure to give a better introduction in how to play, as well as the showcase the intended experience.
- Gameplay as a whole has also taken a backseat up until now. While there are a lot more core features to work on, getting to the "game" part of development is definitely on the roadmap for the near future!
Thank you to everyone who looked into it and played the game. Feedback, whether public or private, was also greatly appreciated, and will go a long way to making this game really come to life.
In some way or form I'm always working on this game in my spare time. I hope that you will also be able to enjoy playing it as much as I enjoy pouring into it.
